I was born in the desert town Palm Springs, California. I love the retro Hollywood culture, rugged geology, and dessert biology. On my resent visit I was privileged to catch a rare sight, Joshua trees in bloom at the Joshua Tree National Park. Joshua trees only bloom in very specific conditions so it’s a rare encounter.
This was one of my shots from a moving tour vehicle that I retouched and stylized. My inspiration was the dramatic lighting contrast in the desert during the sunset or a rain storm. I recolored the image and added figures of moths which are the Joshua Tree’s symbiotic friend. 🙂
